Central to our approach to deploying automated feedback tools for student writing, is ensuring that the tool is coherently integrated into the student activity. This is possible by co-designing the activity with the educator, and where required, changing the behaviour of the writing feedback tool.
When we co-design Learning Analytics with Learning Design (“LA+LD”) we can:
provide a set of activity resources to educators to illustrate where this could fit into their curriculum
tune the automated feedback (to the particular students and their activity)
make better sense of the data (since we know what the students were trying to accomplish)
Browse this menu for examples of Writing Activities with Writing Analytics (WAWAs), which demonstrate how these pieces of the puzzle can fit together.
